Happy holidays, MGSers!

The votes are in, and MGS employees have chosen to support a new (to us) organization for this year's holiday drive - The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). AISES is a national nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers.  AISES supports PK-12, undergrad, and graduate students in STEM studies through programs, scholarships, and events. They also support professionals in STEM fields through professional development, internships, career opportunities, and networking. 

In recent years, the MGS has been dedicated to improving our relationships with Minnesota's eleven Tribes and making sure Tribes' soverign rights are respected by our institution. Another way we can help make sure Native voices are centered during scientific research is to make sure Native individuals are the ones actually DOING the scientific research! A donation to AISES directly contributes to comprehensive programming that helps Native individuals become STEM professionals.
